Algonquin Trading Post, Golden Lake

July 22, 2007 – 3:06 pm

The Algonquin Trading Post was founded by Aimee Bailey & Doug Fischer primarily to serve as an outlet for aboriginal arts and crafts, which are fundamental to the way of life of the Anishnabe, (Our People) and as a way to educate the general public about the philosophy and culture of the Algonquin First Nations people.

While most of the items in their store are new, they have been created using the old, traditional ways. Some of the things you will find include: Hide Clothing, Buckskin Shirts & Dresses, Ceremonial Ribbon Shirts & Dresses, Jewelry, Artwork, Books and other cultural items and artifacts.

LOCATION

The Algonquin Trading Post is located at 13162B Highway 60, Golden Lake, Ontario, K0J 1X0, about 10 km west of the Pikwakanagan First Nation and the hamlet of Golden Lake. The small hamlet of Deacon is almost halfway between the city of Ottawa and south gates of Algonquin Park.

  2. We stopped at the Golden Sands restaurant this summer and were delighted to find you wonderful store across the road. I was quite interested in the history of the doll with no face and the information on your website. You have some wonderful items in your store and my husband and I certainly enjoyed our visit.
