Dub Juby (613.623.6421) whose home and studio at RR 1 Braeside, ON K0A 1G0, just off the River Road on the outskirts of Braeside, Ontario, is one of Renfrew County’s best known wood carver and folk artists. His larger-than-life hand carved sign along County Road 6 has become an Ottawa Valley Landmark!
Residents and visitors alike have long enjoyed viewing and owning his intricate, hand-hewn carvings. Many of Dub’s pieces reflect ‘Life in the Valley’ at its finest. Pointer boats, local wildlife, local residents and activities are all depicted in his beautiful artwork. Carvings are made primarily from single blocks of white pine, basswood or butternut wood.
LOCATION
The Valley Carver’s Gallery is located in his picturesque home overlooking the Ottawa River, about 8 km past the Village of Braeside on the River Road. From the River Road, turn left onto County Road 6. If you are driving along Hwy 417 heading from Arnprior west to Renfrew, you can turn right onto County Road County Road 6 and procede for about 6 km until you come to Dub’s place. Watch for his sign.
